2007 News

Hello Everyone,

On behalf of the Central Region of the CCPS, I would like to invite you to our 2nd AGM at Rocking Horse Stables, Wendover, the home of Val & Jim Everson, on the weekend of November 10 & 11, 2007.

The details are yet to be finalized, but will include clinics, farm visits and the AGM. Val’s farm is half an hour from the Ottawa airport and we will be providing a list of local accommodations shortly. For those able or interested, the Royal Winter Fair runs from Nov. 2 - 11 and is less than an hour from Toronto- Pearson airport. If anyone is interested in flying into Toronto early, catching some of the equine events at the Royal (see www.royalfair.org) and driving on to Val's for the 10th, Dale & I welcome you to come and visit our farm (Century Hill Connemaras) an hour and a half north of Toronto, on the way east. I'm sure that other breeders between Toronto and Ottawa would be happy for you to visit them as well.

Stay tuned for more details but mark your calendars and book flights! We've got lots of things to work on, discuss and map out for the future of our new society. We need everyone's support and involvement!! Please contact me with any questions at this time.

Elodon Connemaras

We've had an absolutely wonderful year in 2006 beginning with the birth of Century Hill Aedan Zodiac's first foal, a very correct athletic colt from a TB/Paint mare. In the first half of the year our mare Lace was trained to drive and finished a very respectable 3rd Training level in the Sask. Horse Driving Trials held in July at Ebon Stables. Rills Carrick Fergus was being schooled in first level dressage and won the 2006 zone championship for Senior First Level from the SHF Heritage Circuit program. His dressage training was interrupted after being accepted on Team Connemara and he began a new program training in an area unfamiliar to both of us, barrel racing. Spruce Meadows was the year's highlight, it was such an honor to be part of the winning team and so much fun to compete.

Another high point of the year was attending the ACPS 50th Anniversary Gala and 2 inspections in Virginia. It was a wonderful opportunity to see many Connemaras, learn from the inspections, and meet many enthusiasts with the fellow Canadians who attended, Penny Huggons, Doris Jacobi, Susan MacDougall and Margot Watson.

Rills Finnian has found a lovely home as the partner of his junior owner Stacey Parker of Dewinton Alberta. Stacey rides at a hunter jumper stable and has done very well showing Finn. We are very pleased that Elodon McCrae also has a lovely home with Cheryl Miller of Lavender Downe Farm, Vancouver Island.

Wishing everyone a 2007 filled with Connemara ponies and the friendships they give us.

Elsie and Don Priddy
